Mighty Men Prone to having an affair?

Bill Clinton and Silvio Berlusconi is a bit of a row of names of politicians who revealed the affair scandal in the media. It was not a coincidence if they are men, rich and holds an important position in its field.

However, according to research Joris Lammers, assistant professor of psychology, expertise in the men pick up women were more influenced by the factors of power. "The higher a person's power and position, the more likely they are having an affair," he said.

In his research, Lammers conducted a survey on the internet to the 1561 readers of business magazines in the Netherlands. The higher one's position in the hierarchy, either male or female, the higher the chances of that person for cheating. Interestingly, it turns out they are being unfaithful is not because of chance, such as frequent business trips, but because of the high position increasing confidence.

"Our research shows the power that one has a big impact on confidence. Power also gives a sense you can get it all and dare to take risks," Lammers said that his research review published in the journal Psychological Science.

He added, confidence can get all these things not only led to abuse in terms of marital fidelity but also fidelity to the code of ethics of work.

Unfortunately the results of this study does not give an answer whether the men eyeing a woman's power to obtain, so that could explain the gender differences in sex scandal. This study is also limited to the sampling on the internet.
