Friends, Places Asking Teens About Sex


Teenagers in Indonesia make social friends as their main source in the search for information about sexuality and reproductive health. Social friends beat the parental role even though pornographic films.

The survey showed, 51 percent of 15-25 year olds prefer to ask friends about sex. Not only that, 75 percent of 663 respondents in five major cities in Indonesia, said that their parents do not know the sexual activity they do. Only 26 percent of teens who claim they are open to parents.

Responding to this survey, Zoya Amirin, sexual psychologist said most teens are embarrassed to discuss with their parents about sexual issues.

"They were afraid to ask because it would have been accused of doing or want to have sex," explained lecturer at the Faculty of Public Health University of Indonesia was on the sidelines of the exposure results of sex survey in Jakarta (05/12/2011).

In fact, according to Zoya, at the age of 15-19 years adolescent sexual education needs to know. "These kids need to know why they feel a strong sexual drive. In this age of secondary sex signs has also been apparent," he said.

Zoya confirmed, parents should guide their children to understand that sexuality is a normal thing. "Do not scare a child, explain the real and true," he explained.

He expressed his biology lessons learned in school children can not be the mainstay of sexual education.
